From student to teacher: my 200-hour YTTC journey in Vietnam
Becoming a certified yoga teacher has been a transformative experience, one filled with challenges, growth, and incredible moments of discovery. My journey from being a dedicated yoga practitioner to an actual teacher began in Hanoi, Vietnam, where I immersed myself in an intensive 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (YTTC). It was a decision that changed my life forever.
The training: a journey of the mind, body, and spirit
Under the guidance of exceptional masters, I explored different facets of yoga, each adding depth to my practice.
Advanced Asanas. The science behind yoga became clear with Master Raja, a challenge and a joy under his expertise. He pushed my limits and helped me refine my physical abilities.
Meditation and healing. Profound insights from Master Virender, guiding me to tap into inner peace and mindfulness like never before.
Yoga techniques. Master Manish helped me understand the deeper mechanics, always pointing out how to be not just more flexible, but stronger in each practice and to hold each pose longer.
Pranayama (breath control). Beautifully taught by Master Raj, enhancing my ability to regulate energy through breathwork.
This journey wasn't just about perfecting postures or memorizing sequences. It was about embodying yoga in its truest form, connecting movement, breath, and intention. Each day was intense, filled with hours of training, self-reflection, and deep learning. It was exhausting yet exhilarating, and I cherished every moment of it.
Embracing a new culture in Hanoi
Coming from Manila, Philippines, adjusting to life in Hanoi, Vietnam was an adventure of its own. The streets were bustling, the culture was rich, and despite the language barrier, I found myself deeply connected to the place.
The vibrant streets, exploring the lively city and indulging in delicious Vietnamese cuisine. Meeting fellow yogis from different backgrounds and forming meaningful friendships. Experiencing a lifestyle and philosophy different from my upbringing, yet refreshing and inspiring.
From graduate to teacher: a new chapter in Da Nang
Upon completing my training, I took a leap of faith and moved to Da Nang, Vietnam, a stunning coastal city where the ocean meets the mountains. Here, I officially began my journey as a yoga teacher, both online and in person.
First classes, teaching online and in small spaces, sharing my passion with students. Witnessing my students grow in their practice, both physically and mentally. Finding joy in guiding others and deepening my own understanding of yoga.
Now, I am embracing this new phase wholeheartedly. Every class I teach is not just about postures and breathwork. It's about sharing the magic of yoga, just as my masters did for me. The journey from a passionate yogi to a certified teacher has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I am grateful for every step of the way.
As I continue teaching and learning in Da Nang, I look forward to inspiring others to step onto the mat and embark on their own yoga journey. Because yoga is not just about flexibility or strength. It's about transformation, mindfulness, and embracing the beauty of the present moment.
If you're ever in Da Nang, join me for a class.
